This will make a number of things easier in the future, as well as (finally!) avoiding the Id-smashing problem which has plagued developers for so long. Boy, I'm glad we're not using sup anymore. This update would have been insane otherwise.
Check that the major and minor are valid. Don't print `.' at the end of error messages. Fixed all warnings from "cc -Wall".
proper error-checking can be done, and octal and hexadecimal numbers are allowed.
Note: XNSrouted and routed NOT imported here, they shall be imported with usr.sbin.
